Otter Farm shines on Grand Designs

Otter Farm last night took centre stage on Channels 4’s Grand Designs revealing its sweeping plough-like design in full glory. It was fantastic to see these beautifully unique aluminium and wildflower roofs come to life throughout the programme and our designs become a reality for Mark Diacono and his family. The two buildings – a winery and farm shop, and a kitchen garden school with associated dwelling were designed to be sympathetic to the local landscape and inherently sustainable, reflecting the idea of growing, selling, and consuming produce. The show is available to watch again via Channel 4 On Demand here.

Olympic design skills come to Orme

This week we welcomed Chartered Architect Hannah Thornton into Orme’s creative team.

Hannah joins Orme from London where she gained significant and diverse experience as part of the Olympic Park design team, as well as that of the Sam Wannamaker Playhouse at the Globe Theatre.

Edd Medlicott, Orme’s Managing Director, said: “It’s fantastic to have Hannah on board. She brings valuable skills and knowledge to the Orme table, and with her passion for the industry is a really strong addition to the practice. 2016 is set to be an exciting year, with a number of great local and national projects in the pipeline. And with the team now standing at 16 strong, we’re looking forward to harnessing the talent that we have and continuing to design inspirational architecture.”
